There is no escaping what has already decided to keep you.
- passed down through generations of sailors
Who it is
There is no interior life on record for Coilor, and that is the point. Sailors did not pass down a description of it. They passed down a sentence about what it is like to be held by it.
Nothing in the deep needs to hunt when it can simply be there first, and Coilor arrives before it is seen, coils, and stays. There is no pursuit to escape because there was never a pursuit. The unsettling part is not appetite. It is that Coilor draws no line between keeping something and holding it. What it wraps, it wraps completely and without end, and whether that reads as an embrace or a life sentence depends entirely on who is inside it. Land-dwellers need those to be two different things. Coilor has no such category.
This is why the Sea Code exists at all, and why Moros enforces it without flexibility. Not every danger below the surface is a misunderstanding waiting to be cleared up. Some of it has simply already decided.
