Wisp's Protector
Wisp knows the Greywood is dangerous. That's why she crosses it.
Woodland creatures rely on her to guide them safely through the forest, keeping them away from the predators that hunt its paths. When a dragon decides Wisp is costing it too much easy prey, it wants her gone.
An ancient law stands in its way. No guide who helps from the heart can be harmed while carrying out their duty. So the dragon finds other ways. A familiar trail leads somewhere it shouldn't. A safe crossing becomes a trap. An accident in the Greywood can hardly be blamed on anyone.
Lycan notices.
The solitary werewolf has spent years refusing responsibility for anyone but himself, yet he cannot ignore what the dragon is doing. Wisp refuses to stop guiding, leaving Lycan with a choice he never wanted.
Walk away, or keep walking beside her long enough to discover why that choice is becoming harder to make.
